The Grounded Actor
June 17-21, 2024 grounded actor intensive in collaboration with Sun Prairie civic theatre, wisconsin
Natalie led a group of high school students from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin in a week-long Grounded Actor Intensive where students applied The Grounded Actor technique to songs and monologues. Here's what some of the students had to say:

"I got a lot of new knowledge out of it and I feel like my acting tool belt has expanded. The techniques helped me learn to act on a foundation of actual skills instead of just spitballing until it works." - Micheal M.

"The chakra and archetype work was very helpful for centering myself, and realizing who I am as an actor and person. That helped to create an authentic foundation for who I am, and helped me realize more in depth things about my character." - Adele N.

"The techniques were very calming. I learned more about myself and it was great for my body and mind." - Brinly S.

"I think that the Opening the Shop practice can help me calm my nerves down before a show because I'm always anxious before performing so these techniques can really help me calm down." - Ella V.

October 12, 2023 - Red Rocks Community College, Lakewood, Colorado

Natalie led a 75 minute workshop on Opening and Closing the Shop (Module One) for students of Red Rocks Community College's Singing for Actors class led by Department Chair Kelly Jo Eldredge.

"I like the idea of being able to open a shop, and close a shop when you are acting, because when you are in the mind of a character for too long, it is important to remember your sense of self. I also enjoyed affirmations and gratitude, because being kind to yourself is also a great way to improve your work and perspective."
-Dylana, Student

"Opening the shop was beneficial because it allowed me to step into the right headspace to start the work. I also enjoyed the affirmation setting because I was able to push my own negative thoughts aside and replace them with affirmations to make me feel better. Lastly, I enjoyed the closing the shop activity because it allowed me to step outside of the work and come into myself once again without feeling the burden of the work."
-Elijah, Student
